1.1 Introduction

Definition of terms

Laundry is the process of washing, drying and finishing fabric articles so that they are clean, hygienic and ready for use. Linen refers to washable fabric items such as sheets, towels and tablecloths used in guest service. Soiling is the build-up of dirt, stains or body oils on a fabric that laundering is meant to remove.
